A Foundation for Success: Series 1: Nurturing Children’s Relationships – Online Series
This course will provide educators with a strong understanding of how to build positive relationships with children and families, beginning with the skills to build in themselves.
Mondays, October 21st, and November 4th, 18th from 6-8pm
A Developmental Approach to Classroom Management – Online Series
This series will provide participants with a foundational understanding of how to identify individual differences within their students. Participants will learn to provide targeted and tailored support to teach new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and support social-emotional skill acquisition
Wednesdays, October 23rd, 30th, and November 6th from 5-7pm
New! Improve Your Interactions: An Overview of the Toddler and Infant CLASS – Self-paced
This course provides an in-depth examination of the quality indicators in the toddler and infant Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tools. The CLASS provides an excellent framework for both classroom teachers and program administrators to reflect on the quality of caregiving and teaching practices and identify areas for improvement.
We have added new courses from ProSolutions, including:
- Establishing Meaningful Connections with Children
- The Brain and Early Childhood: Old Myths and New Knowledge
- Helping Children Cope with Death
- Helping Children Cope with Divorce
- Preventing Preschool Expulsion

CELP Site Update Announcement –
External PD Submission Feature is Here!
The external Professional Development feature on the CELP site is ready so you can now submit your training verification electronically! As a recap, our CELP site has been “communicating” with the RISES Workforce Registry system to push PD hours earned via completed CELP developed PD courses into your RISES Workforce Registry account. This happens through 1) verifying a matching unique identifier – your Workforce Registry ID and 2) a thoroughly tested “communication” between the CELP site and the RISES system. If you haven’t already set up your RISES account AND added your workforce ID into both your CELP account and ProSolutions (Health & Safety courses), please take a moment to do so. This will allow your data to transfer to RISES. Here is the link to create your RISES account: Register | Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) (site.com).

News from DHS:
October 2024 All-Provider Meeting
Valued Providers,
Happy start of Autumn! Once again, it’s been approximately four months since our last all-provider meeting! There are so many fantastic things happening in the Early Childhood community, I am excited to continue the great momentum into the summer and upcoming school year.
As mentioned previously, the DHS Office of Child Care used to hold “All-Provider Meetings” in person 2-3 times a year. These meetings were an opportunity for child care centers and family child care home providers to hear directly from the staff at DHS’s Office of Child Care. Depending on what was happening in the field at the time, the agenda was either kept general or included a specific topic that was part of the larger child care system. Unfortunately, these meetings were suspended during the COVID-19 pandemic, forcing us to hold smaller zoom meetings or to rely on large all-provider emails to share information. However, we’ve heard feedback from many of you regarding how helpful these larger, all provider meetings were for the provider community. Based on that feedback and the continued commitment to offering support to all our providers, DHS is offering these all-provider meetings through Microsoft Teams moving forward. Like the previous model, they will be held 2-3 times a year, approximately 4 months apart.
For those that attended our first few all provider meetings, thank you! We are looking to continue to improve the format so look forward to hearing from you. We are still asking that you register using the link below. This will ensure that you receive the PowerPoint after the meeting. The link for registration can be found below. We will be having two meetings – one in English, and one in Spanish. You can register for the meetings below.
English: Wednesday, October 23rd – 1-2:30pm
Spanish: Wednesday, October 23rd – 5:30-7:00pm

News from RIDOH:
Back to School Infectious Disease Update
The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH), has released information on preventing the spread of respiratory viruses in RI including COVID-19 and Pertussis (Whooping Cough).
RIDOH is also recommending “Smart Scheduling” to minimize mosquito-borne disease risk.

Optional: Child Care Survey
Our colleagues in the Healthy Eating, Active Living (HEAL) program at the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) and their partners at Brown University created a survey for child care providers in Rhode Island. This survey is an opportunity to tell RIDOH and Brown University about your challenges and successes in providing child care and to make sure your voice is heard!
If you are interested, please click to take the Early Childhood Education (ECE) survey. According to the HEAL program, you may be eligible to receive either a $25 Amazon Card or up to $30 worth of school supplies. Make sure to click “submit” to be eligible as this is for the first 166 respondents that will be evenly distributed between family child care homes and child care centers. If it’s easier for you to answer survey questions by phone, text HEAL to 401-316-5509. Per the HEAL program, surveys completed over the phone will also be eligible for either the Amazon Card or school supplies.

Higher Education Pathways
Information about the T.E.A.C.H program: There’s still time to check out the T.E.A.C.H program as we near the Fall semester, Learn more about scheduling an info session and the benefits of sponsoring a T.E.A.C.H scholar!
Enrollment is Open for the Rhode Island College Infant Toddler Certificate of Undergraduate Studies. Classes begin January 2025.
Admission:
- Must work a minimum of 25 hours a week in a DHS Licensed and CCAP-approved program. Infant Toddler Teachers will have priority enrollment.
- All classes are offered in the evening in a hybrid format, with some sessions meeting face-to-face and some meeting online.
- Complete the TEACH scholarship Application form

¡La función para ingresar DP externo ya está disponible!
La función de Desarrollo Profesional externo en el sitio CELP está lista para que ahora pueda ingresar su verificación de capacitación electrónicamente! En resumen, nuestro sitio CELP se ha estado “comunicando” con el sistema RISES para transferir las horas de desarrollo profesional obtenidas a través de cursos de desarrollo profesional desarrollados por CELP en su cuenta de RISES. Esto sucede a través de 1) verificar un identificador único coincidente: su ID de Registro de Fuerza Laboral y 2) una “comunicación” exhaustivamente probada entre el sitio CELP y el sistema RISES. Si aún no configuró su cuenta RISES Y agregó su identificación de fuerza laboral l tanto en su cuenta CELP como en ProSolutions (cursos de salud y seguridad), tómese un momento para hacerlo. Esto permitirá que sus datos se transfieran a RISES. Aquí está el enlace para crear su cuenta RISES: Register | Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) (site.com).

Octubre 2024 Reunión de todos los proveedores
Estimados/as proveedores/as,
Feliz inicio de otoño! Una vez más, ¡han pasado aproximadamente cuatro meses desde nuestra última reunión de todos los proveedores! Están sucediendo tantas cosas fantásticas en la comunidad de la Primera Infancia que estoy emocionado de continuar con el gran impulso durante el verano y el próximo año escolar.
Como se mencionó anteriormente, la Oficina de Cuidado Infantil del DHS solía realizar “reuniones para todos los proveedores” en persona 2 o 3 veces al año. Estas reuniones fueron una oportunidad para que los centros de cuidado infantil y los proveedores de cuidado infantil familiar en el hogar escucharan directamente al personal de la Oficina de Cuidado Infantil del DHS. Dependiendo de lo que estaba sucediendo en el campo en ese momento, la agenda se mantuvo general o incluyó un tema específico que era parte del sistema de cuidado infantil más amplio. Desafortunadamente, estas reuniones se suspendieron durante la pandemia de COVID-19, lo que nos obligó a realizar reuniones de Zoom más pequeñas o a depender de grandes correos electrónicos que incluían a todos/as los/as proveedores/as para compartir información. Sin embargo, hemos escuchado comentarios de muchos de ustedes sobre lo útiles que fueron estas reuniones más amplias para todos los proveedores de la comunidad de cuidado infantil. Con base en esos comentarios y con el compromiso continuo de ofrecer apoyo a todos nuestros proveedores, el DHS ofrecerá estas reuniones para todos los proveedores a través de Equipos de Microsoft en el futuro. Al igual que el modelo anterior, se realizarán 2-3 veces al año, con un intervalo aproximado de 4 meses.
Para aquellos que asistieron a nuestras primeras reuniones de proveedores, ¡gracias! Esperamos seguir mejorando el formato, así que esperamos tener noticias suyas. Actualizaciones sobre enfermedades infecciosas en el regreso a la escuela
El Departamento de Salud de Rhode Island (RIDOH) ha publicado información sobre cómo prevenir la propagación de virus respiratorios en Rhode Island, como el COVID-19 y la tos ferina.
RIDOH también recomienda una “programación inteligente” para minimizar el riesgo de enfermedades transmitidas por mosquitos.

Encuesta sobre cuidado infantil
Nuestros colegas del programa Alimentación saludable y vida activa (HEAL) del Departamento de Salud de Rhode Island (RIDOH) y sus socios de la Universidad de Brown crearon una encuesta para proveedores de cuidado infantil en Rhode Island. ¡Esta encuesta es una oportunidad para contarle a RIDOH y a la Universidad de Brown sobre sus desafíos y éxitos en la prestación de cuidado infantil y para asegurarse de que se escuche su voz!
Si está interesado, haga clic para tomar la encuesta sobre Educación Infantil Temprana (ECE). De RIAIMH: Práctica reflexiva en el contexto de la cultura y el lenguaje: Levantando la comunidad es un aprendizaje colaborativo intensivo que explora las dimensiones de la salud mental infantil y de la primera infancia en las comunidades latinoamericanas. Empieza en enero y la registración está limitada a 20 participantes.
