DHS Licensing Compliance Micro-Trainings

These short training modules take about 30-45 minutes to complete and provide an overview of specific DHS Licensing Regulations for Child Care programs, School-Age programs, and Family Child Care homes.

For Family Child Care Providers: 

  • Part 1: DHS Licensing Regulations Overview for Family Child Care Homes: Review the Rhode Island Child Care DHS regulations for licensure for family child care programs.
  • Part 2: DHS Licensing Regulations Overview: Health and Safety Practices for Family Child Care Homes: Review the Rhode Island Child Care DHS regulations for licensure for family child care programs on health and safety practices.
  • Part 3: DHS Licensing Regulations Overview: Educational Practices for Family Child Care Homes: Review the Rhode Island Child Care DHS regulations for licensure for family child care programs on educational practices.

For Child Care and School-Age Programs:

  • Creating an Employee Handbook for Child Care Programs: Review the components of an employee handbook and offers tips and resources for creating one specific to your program.

  • Creating a Family Handbook for Child Care Programs and Homes: Review the components of a family handbook and find tips and resources for creating one specific to your program.
  • Creating Staff Files for Child Care Programs and Homes: Review the licensing requirements for maintaining staff files in all child care and school-age programs.
  • Diapering & Toileting in Child Care Programs and Homes: Review the required practices and procedures for diapering, toileting, and handwashing in both center-based programs and family child care homes.
  • Safe Sleep Practices: Review safe sleep practices for infants as defined by the Rhode Island Child Care DHS Regulations for Licensure and national standards.

ProSolutions Courses

These courses are offered through ProSolutions and cover a variety of topics, including the Mandatory Health and Safety Pre-Service 18-hour Training.
