This course provides an overview of strategies to support children’s autonomy through well-established classroom routines.

Read-Aloud Basics – Self-Paced
This course presents an overview of best book reading practices. Course lessons address the importance of early read-aloud experiences, book genre, interactive read-aloud strategies, and supporting vocabulary development.

Supporting Social-Emotional Learning through Classroom Routines – Self-Paced
This course presents an overview of ways to support young children’s social and emotional learning throughout the day. It focuses on practical strategies for supporting preschool-aged children in developing their social-emotional skills and ways that adults can use routines to meet the needs of young children.

CELP Site Update Announcement – External PD Submission Feature is Coming!

The highly anticipated external Professional Development feature (for Training Verification Applications) on the CELP site is almost ready! This announcement is to let you know that, later this week, this feature will be available on the CELP site. As a recap, our CELP site has been “communicating” with the RISES Workforce Registry system to push PD hours earned via completed CELP developed PD courses into your RISES Workforce Registry account. This happens through 1) verifying a matching unique identifier – your Workforce Registry ID and 2) a thoroughly tested “communication” between the CELP site and the RISES system. Please, if you haven’t already set up your RISES account AND added your workforce ID into both your CELP account and ProSolutions (Health & Safety courses), take the time to do so this week so your data will transfer to RISES efficiently. Here is the link to create your RISES account: Register | Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) (site.com).

The CELP team is finalizing a self-help guidance document and recorded tutorials on how to navigate the new external PD submission feature. In addition to these supports, we will share upcoming dates for drop-in support. We recommend organizing your most recent external PD so the information is ready to enter along with the supporting certificates for those completed PD. The external PD is any PD completed that is 1) NOT offered and run by CELP and 2) NOT the health and safety and other modules you can also register for via CELP (ProSolutions). Those Health & Safety Modules and other courses via ProSolutions will merge to your CELP account as long as you have 1) your RISES Workforce Registry account created, 2) Workforce ID entered into your CELP account and 3) the same Workforce ID entered into your ProSolutions account. While this does take a few extra steps to set up, once completed, it will not need to be done again. Please reach out to CELP if you have any questions!

This does NOT impact the process for trainers/organizations to seek approval to run a professional development opportunity. These will still need to be submitted prior to running the PD offering. News from DHS:

SECOND REMINDER Action Needed: CCAP School Age Enrollment September 2024

Dear Valued CCAP Providers,

We hope you’re having a great summer! With the school year fast approaching, we’re writing with an important reminder about Updating Your School Age Enrollments.

Effective September 7, 2024, the Fall Flip will be reinstated, and school age children will not be able to enroll in care during regular school hours (9:30am-1:30pm). Upgrades for school vacation weeks, holidays, and snow days will be made as requested.

Action Needed:

Please update the enrollments for your school aged children as follows:

  • Disenroll them from their summer schedule.
  • Re-enroll them for their fall/school year schedule.
  • As of September 7, school aged children still enrolled for summer hours (i.e., between 9:30am – 1:30pm) will be automatically disenrolled. If these children are still in your care after September 7, you will need to re-enroll them for their fall/school year schedule.

Important Enrollment and Attendance Reminders

  • Review your CCAP enrollments regularly to ensure they are accurate. The hours that a child is enrolled with your program should reflect the hours they are served by you.
  • Disenroll children if the Office of Child Care or the parent/guardian makes a disenrollment request for the child to seek care elsewhere or if a child is absent for more than two consecutive weeks.
  • Ensure any new children are enrolled in the Provider Portal before or during the first week of care. Report any enrollment issue that could impact payment to the Office of Child Care within the first week of care to ensure accurate payment. Enrollment questions/concerns should be emailed to childcare@dhs.ri.gov.

New Online BRIDGE-RI Multilingual Learner Course from RIDE and URI

 

New Online BRIDGE-RI Multilingual Learner Course for Early Learning Professionals and Educators

Alisa Baron PhD, CCC-SLP and Vanessa Harwood PhD, CCC-SLP from URI have teamed up to create the fourth course in BRIDGE-RI for the Early Childhood Language and Literacy Development Series titled, “Screening and Assessment Practices During the Preschool Years: Identifying Reading Readiness”.
In this self-paced course, participants will gain the knowledge to effectively identify, administer, and interpret several high-quality screening tools used to measure language and literacy performance in young children. They will also learn about authentic assessment practices that provide naturalistic measurements of a child’s skill set in the context of the classroom. This course includes videos that model accurate administration of the Preschool Early Literacy Indicators (PELI), the EarlyBird Screening Application, and authentic assessment practices. Considerations for assessment practices with multilingual learners (MLLs) will also be addressed. Finally, recommendations are included on how to partner with parents and school teams to address concerns identified during the screening process.

  • Prerequisite: There are no prerequisites for this course, however, it is recommended participants complete Courses 1 and 2.
  •  Create an account and join us for this interactive and informative course that will help you to better understand language development in multilingual learners.

To clarify some provider questions in the past, this series is built to complement, not supplement, any Science of Reading training that you/your staff may have had and digs deeper into practical applications for supporting early childhood language and literacy instruction. The courses are aligned with the 2023 RIELDS and the Early Learning Curriculum Framework and are approved PDs through the Center for Early Learning Professionals.

Anuncio de actualización del sitio CELP – ¡La función de envío de DP externo ya casi está disponible!

¡La tan esperada función de Desarrollo Profesional externo (aplicación de verificación de entrenamiento) en el sitio CELP está casi lista! Este anuncio es para informarles que, a finales de esta semana, esta función estará disponible en el sitio del CELP. En resumen, nuestro sitio CELP se ha estado “comunicando” con el sistema RISES de la fuerza laboral para transferir las horas de desarrollo profesional obtenidas a través de cursos de desarrollo profesional desarrollados por CELP en su cuenta de RISES. Esto sucede a través de 1) verificar un identificador único coincidente: su ID de Fuerza Laboral y 2) una “comunicación” exhaustivamente probada entre el sitio CELP y el sistema RISES. Por favor, si aún no configuró su cuenta RISES Y agregó su identificación laboral tanto en su cuenta CELP como en ProSolutions (cursos de salud y seguridad), tómese el tiempo para hacerlo esta semana para que sus datos se transfieran a RISES de manera eficiente. El equipo CELP está finalizando un documento de guía de autoayuda y tutoriales grabados sobre cómo navegar por la nueva función de envío de DP externo. Recomendamos organizar su DP externo más reciente para que la información esté lista para ingresar junto con los certificados de respaldo de los DP completados. El DP externo es cualquier DP completado que 1) NO sea ofrecido ni administrado por CELP y 2) NO los módulos de salud y seguridad y otros módulos en los que también puede registrarse a través de CELP (ProSolutions). Esos módulos de salud y seguridad y otros cursos a través de ProSolutions se fusionarán con su cuenta CELP siempre que tenga 1) su cuenta de Registro de Fuerza Laboral RISES creada, 2) la ID de Fuerza Laboral ingresada en su cuenta CELP y 3) la misma ID de Fuerza Laboral ingresada en su cuenta de ProSolutions. Si bien esto requiere algunos pasos adicionales para configurarlo, una vez completado, no será necesario volver a hacerlo. ¡Comuníquese con CELP si tiene alguna pregunta!

Esto NO afecta el proceso para que los capacitadores/programas busquen aprobación para ejecutar una oportunidad de desarrollo profesional. Estos aún deberán enviarse antes de ejecutar la oferta de DP. SEGUNDO RECORDATORIO Acción necesaria: Inscripción de niños en edad escolar en el CCAP, septiembre 2024

Muy estimados proveedores CCAP:

¡Esperamos que su verano sea excelente! Con el pronto inicio del año escolar, estamos escribiendo un recordatorio importante para que actualice sus inscripciones de niños en edad escolar.

A partir del 7 de septiembre de 2023, quedará vigente el restablecimiento del cambio de otoño y los niños en edad escolar no podrán inscribirse para cuidado infantil durante el horario escolar regular (de 9:30am a 1:30pm). Se realizarán mejoras para las semanas de vacaciones escolares, días festivos y días de nieve a medida que se soliciten.

Acción necesaria:

Por favor actualice las inscripciones de sus niños en edad escolar de la siguiente manera:

  • Cancele la inscripción del horario de verano.
  • Vuelva a inscribirlos para su horario de otoño/año escolar.
  • A partir del 7 de septiembre, los niños en edad escolar inscritos en horarios de verano, (por ejemplo: entre 9:30am y 1:30pm) serán dados de baja automáticamente. Si estos niños todavía están bajo su cuidado después del 7 de septiembre, deberá volver a inscribirlos para su horario de otoño/año escolar.

Recordatorios importantes acerca de la inscripción y la asistencia

  • Revise sus inscripciones en el CCAP con regularidad para asegurarse de que sean precisas. Las horas que en las que un niño está inscrito en el programa deben reflejar las horas que está bajo su cuidado.
  • Cancele la inscripción de los niños si los padres/tutores o la Oficina de atención infantil emite una solicitud de cancelación, para que el niño busque cuidado en otro lugar o si el niño estuvo ausente durante más de dos semanas consecutivas.
  • Asegúrese de que todos los niños nuevos estén inscritos en el Portal de proveedores antes o durante la primera semana de atención. Reporte a la Oficina de atención infantil dentro de las primeras semanas del cuidado, cualquier problema con la inscripción que pueda afectar el pago, para garantizar el mismo. Debe enviar por correo electrónico las preguntas /inquietudes sobre la inscripción a childcare@dhs.ri.gov.
