In-Person PD – In Our New Office!
Helping Preschoolers Build Emotional Super Powers through Self-Regulation Skills (New Office Location: Center for Early Learning Professionals, 2348 Post Road, Suite 111, Warwick)
The second course in this year-long SEL series will provide educators with the knowledge and skills needed to effectively understand, support, and nurture the healthy development of preschool children’s emotions and self-regulation skills.
Dates: Tuesday, January 27th, February 10th, and 24th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Learning about Self, Family, Classroom, and Community: An Overview of the New Social Studies RIELDS – In-Person Series (New Office Location: Center for Early Learning Professionals, 2348 Post Road, Suite 111, Warwick)
This multi-session series presents an overview of ways to support social studies in early childhood classrooms. Participants will explore the updates to the social studies component of the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS) and learn how to design curriculum that supports children’s understanding of civics and government, economics, geography, and history.
Dates: Mondays, February 9th, 23rd and March 9th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Upcoming PD
Physical Development and Foundational Experiences in Infants and Toddlers (Online Series)
This series is a basic introduction to the physical developmental milestones of gross motor and fine motor skills in infants and toddlers. Participants will learn about the foundational sensory and attachment experiences that infants need to support their physical developmental process.
Dates: Wednesdays, February 4th and March 11th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
PD for School Age Providers
Using the SACERS-U to Improve Program Quality (Online)
This two-part series will provide school-age educators with an overview of the components of the School-Age Care Environment Rating Scale (SACERS-U) tool. Participants will build their understanding of key concepts, terms, and definitions in the tool.
Dates: Tuesdays, February 3rd and 10th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
The Role of the Site Coordinator in School Age Programs (Online)
The role of the site coordinator for a school-age program is complex and challenging. This overview session will help you learn more about the many duties of each of these roles and ultimately how to best support staff to fill their “toolbox” so that they can perform at the highest level.
Dates: Tuesday, March 17th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
New Self-Paced PD Offering
Micro-Training: Tips for Handwashing Practices
This course reviews the required practices and procedures for handwashing in both center-based programs and family child care homes. This training will provide an overview of the Rhode Island Child Care and Family Child Care licensing regulations for handwashing policies and procedures and resources for implementing proper health and hygiene practices with all children.

We are excited to announce that the Center for Early Learning Professionals has moved to a beautiful new headquarters. On January 1, 2026, we will be up and running at our new home, which is conveniently located at 2348 Post Road, Suite 111 in Warwick.

Family Outreach Survey from DHS and EDC
Thank you to all of the child care providers who have helped spread the word about EDC’s family survey (part of the Family Child Care and Beyond research study)! We have received 190 responses so far and are hoping to keep the momentum going. If you have not already shared the survey information with the families you serve, please consider using the text found in this link in an email or newsletter message and/or print and post the information on a bulletin board or send home with the children. Every response helps increase our understanding of what families prioritize when choosing among child care options. Survey findings can also help inform DHS policies designed to improve families’ access to care that meets their needs.

New! RIAIMH Opportunity
Learning Collaborative in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health for Early Childhood Education Professionals
Early care and education providers have unique opportunities to promote infant/early childhood mental health by building and nurturing relationships that support social and emotional development, healthy attachments, and family engagement. This work impacts early brain development and is critical for the child’s lifelong health, mental health, and learning. We know that the work in ECE settings is as rewarding as it is weighty. IECMH principles and practices are crucial to guide ALL work that involves infants’ optimal development and social/emotional well-being. This project supports providers to promote IECMH through training, reflection, creation of a community within ECE, and support to earn IECMH-Endorsement® credential.
What’s involved in this Learning Collaborative?
- Attend 2 Trainings (CELP approved) for 42 total hours from February-September 2026
- Support to submit your IMH Endorsement® application (requires approximately 10 hours) that affirms specialized knowledge, skills, and experiences working with infants, young children and their families.
- Participants offered: RIAIMH 2026 membership and a professional payment upon earning the Endorsement credential
Registration for training at NO COST to participants
Registration is limited to 40 participants
Additional information about activities (including dates) will be provided after registration.
Who’s Eligible?
- Staff working directly with infants and/or toddlers and their families
- Identified as a leader in your program
- Staff employed in programs that accept CCAP subsidies
- Participants will need approval from their supervisors/administrators to support time required for participation in the project

Opportunity to Share with Parents at Your Program
The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) is a free, 20-week virtual program that equips parents, caregivers, and community members with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to become effective leaders and advocates for children, families, and communities. Since launching in 2024, the PLTI has welcomed passionate participants from across Rhode Island who are ready to turn lived experience into leadership. Through weekly sessions, peer support, professional mentoring and a capstone community project, participants gain tools to influence systems and shape policies that matter to them.
Applications for Cohort 4 are due January 26, 2026.

Utilizando el FCCERS-3 para mejorar la calidad del programa
Esta serie de dos partes ofrecerá a los propietarios y educadores de cuidado infantil familiar una visión general de los componentes de la Escala de Calificación del Entorno de Cuidado Infantil Familiar (FCCERS-3). Los participantes profundizarán su comprensión de los conceptos, términos y definiciones clave de la herramienta, analizarán estrategias para prepararse para una evaluación FCCERS de BrightStars en su programa y aprenderán a usar la herramienta para la autoevaluación del programa y la mejora continua de la calidad.

Pequeños corazones, grandes emociones: fomentando la alfabetización emocional en bebés y niños pequeños
Esta serie en línea proporciona a los cuidadores las herramientas necesarias para apoyar el desarrollo emocional de los niños pequeños. Los participantes explorarán los fundamentos de la alfabetización emocional, descubrirán estrategias prácticas para fomentar la regulación emocional y aprenderán a crear entornos afectuosos y receptivos que promuevan el bienestar emocional de cada niño.

Pequeños matemáticos: Usando los Juegos matemáticos para desarrollar mentes y motivación
Pequeños matemáticos es una serie de DP que mejorará la capacidad de los proveedores con niños de edad preescolar para facilitar y desarrollar el conocimiento matemático y el pensamiento de los niños utilizando juegos matemáticos y la participación familiar. Al igual que la serie original, cada sesión se centrará en el uso de juegos de matemáticas divertidos y atractivos que destacan varios conceptos matemáticos clave.

Rhode Island Abuso y Negligencia Infantil: Parte 2
presenta una inmersión más profunda en los signos de diferentes tipos de maltrato y abandono infantil, datos nacionales y estatales relacionados con el abuso y el descuido, y el papel del profesional de la primera infancia. Esta capacitación está diseñada para seguir el curso general titulado, RI Abuso y negligencia infantil: Mantener seguros a los niños de Rhode Island en todo momento.

¡Nuevo! Cuestionario para padres/cuidadores del DHS y EDC
Gracias a todos los proveedores de cuidado infantil que han ayudado a difundir la encuesta familiar de EDC (parte del estudio de investigación sobre cuidado infantil familiar y más allá). Hasta el momento hemos recibido 190 respuestas y esperamos mantener este ritmo. Si aún no ha compartido la información de la encuesta con las familias a las que atiende, le pedimos que considere utilizar el texto en este enlace en un correo electrónico o boletín informativo, o bien imprima y publique la información en un tablón de anuncios o envíela a casa con los niños. Cada respuesta nos ayuda a comprender mejor qué priorizan las familias al elegir entre las diferentes opciones de cuidado infantil. Los resultados de la encuesta también pueden ser útiles para las políticas del Departamento de Servicios Humanos (DHS) diseñadas para mejorar el acceso de las familias a un cuidado que satisfaga sus necesidades.

¡Nuevo! Oportunidad de RIAIMH
Serie de conversación comunitaria 2026
RIAIMH ahora ofrece la Serie de Conversaciones Comunitarias en español. Esta serie transformadora de 6 sesiones, “Raíces Fuertes, Futuros Brillantes: Conversaciones comunitarias sobre la salud mental infantil” (Strong Roots, Bright Futures: Community Conversations on Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health), está diseñada específicamente para educadores hispanohablantes, proveedores de cuidado infantil, profesionales de la primera infancia y aquellos que trabajan como parte de la fuerza laboral de infantes y familias.
Descripción de la Serie: Serie de conversaciones virtuales que exploran principios y prácticas esenciales que nutren el bienestar emocional de los niños desde el nacimiento hasta los 5 años. Los temas incluyen:
- Sesión #1 (29 de enero): Los primeros pasos del corazón: desarrollo socioemocional de 0-5 años – Facilitada por Jessica Calle, LCSW, MSW, CGS, IMH-E®
