CELP PD Highlights
CELP Winter Semester PD is Open!
Check out the winter course offerings, there is something for everyone. Click on the link below to see our complete list. Classes start this month and run through March!
For All Early Childhood Professionals:
- Brain Power: 4 Part Series in Social Emotional Learning (previously called Our Amazing Brain). This series, offered in partnership with Empowering Educators, focuses on the brain and learning and includes the concepts of Conscious Discipline’s Brain State Model. *This course counts for the CCRI Professional Development Credit award. Starts Wednesday, February 28th.
New Self-paced PD
- Supporting Social-Emotional Learning through Classroom Routines. This course presents an overview of ways to support young children’s social and emotional learning throughout the day. It focuses on practical strategies for supporting preschool-aged children in developing their social-emotional skills and ways that adults can use routines to meet the needs of young children.
- Boost Your Math Practices. This new self-paced course gives you an overview of ways to support mathematics in early childhood classrooms.
RISES System Go-Live Preparation & Training –
Update from DHS!
Dear Provider Community,
We are excited to announce that the Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) launched on February 5, 2024 officially. With this significant milestone, it’s crucial to ensure a seamless transition and effective utilization of the system.
There will be more information about RISES in the coming weeks, as well as a dedicated website for more information on the DHS Office of Child Care webpage. In the meantime, we want to afford you the first opportunity to learn about the RISES Workforce Registry System!
On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, from 6pm-8pm, we will be offering a live training of the RISES Workforce Registry for all providers. This training will include:
- Logging in
- Creating your profile
- Managing staff within the system
- Using the Job Board
- Accessing Professional Development Information
- Submitting a ticket for assistance
- Q & A
We look forward to seeing you there! As a note – this webinar will be capped at 500 attendees and registration is required. It will be recorded, and the recording will be posted to the DHS website soon after.

- Compile Employment Details: Ensure you have your vaccination records, employment history, and any relevant employment information ready.
This preparation will facilitate a smooth registration process and enable you to engage efficiently with the RISES system upon its launch.

Official Launch of URI Online’s ECCE Pre-K-2 Certification Programs for Fall 2024
RIDE is excited to announce, in partnership with the University of Rhode Island, the OFFICIAL launch of 2 new Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) Online Programs: the B.S Degree Completion (with PK-2 certification), and the Accelerated Undergraduate Certificate (PK-2 certification only, no degree) programs. These programs are now accepting applications for Fall 2024 admission (DEADLINE: 4/2/2024 (Early Admission); 7/30/2024 (Regular Admission). Register and attend a virtual or in-person information session to discover the value of a URI Online Early Childhood Care and Education program and learn more about each new program’s curriculum, admission requirements, and TEACH-RI scholarship eligibility requirements. This is a one-year pilot offering CCAP benefits to subsidize the cost of child care for eligible early childhood educators and staff who work in a DHS licensed child care program. Afterschool Math Plus – Afterschool Math Plus is an evidence-based program that provides fun, real-world mathematics activities for students in grades three through eight. Materials include a culturally relevant curriculum designed around four thematic units that engage children. Each unit emphasizes identity development, careers, role models, strategies for family involvement, and inclusion of students with disabilities through an equity lens:
Crazy 8s is the “second child” of the Bedtime Math family. It is the largest recreational after-school math club for elementary-aged kids in the U.S.

Comprender el Impacto del Trauma en los Niños Pequeños – Serie en Línea

Nos complace anunciar que el sistema de inicio temprano de Rhode Island (RISES) se lanzó oficialmente el 5 de febrero de 2024. Con este importante hito, es crucial garantizar una transición fluida y una utilización efectiva del sistema.
Habrá más información sobre RISES en las próximas semanas, así como un sitio web dedicado para obtener más información en la página web de la Oficina de Cuidado Infantil del DHS. Mientras tanto, queremos brindarle la primera oportunidad de conocer el Sistema de Registro de la Fuerza Laboral de RISES.

- El Departamento de Servicios Humanos de Rhode Island (DHS) está aceptando aplicaciones para el programa piloto de asistencia para cuidado infantil (CCAP) para el personal de cuidado infantil.
