New! Ripples of Positivity: Prioritizing Self-Care (Online Session)
This session focuses on the direct connection between adult well-being and professional effectiveness. Participants will leave with research-backed strategies that they can use to support their own well-being.

Understanding Pedagogical Leadership for Education Coordinators (Online Series)
This series is designed to support education coordinators in their role as pedagogical leaders. The focus will be on exploring effective pedagogical leadership competencies from the Whole Leadership Framework.

PD for School Age Providers
The Role of the Site Coordinator in School Age Programs (Online)
The role of the site coordinator for a school-age program is complex and challenging. This overview session will help you learn more about the many duties of each of these roles and ultimately how to best support staff to fill their “toolbox” so that they can perform at the highest level.

New Self-Paced PD Offering
Micro-Training: Tips for Handwashing Practices
This course reviews the required practices and procedures for handwashing in both center-based programs and family child care homes. This training will provide an overview of the Rhode Island Child Care and Family Child Care licensing regulations for handwashing policies and procedures and resources for implementing proper health and hygiene practices with all children.

New! News From DHS:
Office of Child Care February Updates
Valued Providers,
The Office of Child Care has some important overall updates for you. Please read carefully and let a member of the team know if you have ANY questions, comments or concerns.
- There is no more child care mailbox here at 25 Howard Ave. We do not accept paper applications, and back billing and other documents can be scanned and emailed. Our preferred method of receiving information is scanned and emails, but you are welcome to mail it to us as well.
- Effective February 20, 2026, DHS will have a specific section on our website where all emails sent to providers will be posted. That way, you will be able to always have access to them and keep up with what is happening when you have the time to. The emails will be here: https://dhs.ri.gov/programs-and-services/child-care/child-care-providers-staff-resources/handbooks-forms. Please note – they are not there yet, but we hope it will be helpful in ensuring all the information you receive is in one place by the end of the week. As a licensed child care provider, it is your responsibility to ensure you read any information sent by DHS by viewing the emails as they are sent to you or by accessing them on the website starting February 20th.
- There is an update coming out within the next few days in RISES to make it easier for Administrators/Directors and any regulatory staff to see your staff’s required information in RISES. This update should really support the ability to see what is missing from an educator’s profile. We understand right now that you may not have the ability to approve every area of the registry yet, and that is forthcoming. The OCC will provide you with that information as soon as the enhancement is completed.
- The OCC wants to remind you that profiles are personal and should only be accessed by the person who owns it. Please make sure your staff never share passwords or allow anyone else to log into their account. Sharing login credentials is not necessary and can put your personal data, employment information, and system integrity at risk. RISES is designed so that authorized regulatory roles and other staff can access the information they need without logging into a person’s account. This ensures that all users’ information remains secure while allowing oversight where required. If your staff ever suspect that their account has been accessed without their consent, please have them reset their password immediately and contact our support team at support@dhs.ri.gov . We can review account activity and assist you as needed. Thank you for helping us maintain the security, integrity, and confidentiality of the Workforce Registry.
- As you will likely notice, as part of the RISES release was a new visit tool that was created to ensure that all the regulations were monitored during a visit. It is important to note that currently, regulations have not changed and everything that the licensing team is monitoring for has been a requirement for licensure for years. It is important that, at all times during operating hours, you are following every regulation. As a reminder, regulations can always be found here: https://dhs.ri.gov/regulations.
- Lastly, please ensure your staff is up to date on the requirements for immunizations. All of the information you need on immunizations can be found at: https://datahealth.ri.gov/immunization/for/schools/ . This website has very specific information about what is expected from BOTH child care staff and children, what there are exemptions for, etc. If the immunization information uploaded to your registry does not clearly have a staff members full name and date of birth, it will be rejected and need to be resubmitted.

New! News from DHS: Payment Based on Enrollment
Hello CCAP provider community!
The Office of Child Care is preparing for the shift to enrollment based CCAP payments at the end of March 2026. This change brings us into compliance with the 2024 CCDF rule requiring enrollment-based payments, but more importantly provides greater stability and consistency of payments for providers and greater flexibility for families with fluctuating schedules. Payment based on enrollment better aligns with private market payment practices and better reflects the fixed costs associated with providing quality childcare. We’re excited for this change and are planning ahead to make it as smooth as possible!
There will be some changes to the CCAP Provider Portal screens and statuses for attendance submission, and we’ll be sharing all the details with you well in advance.

Family Outreach Survey from DHS and EDC
Thank you to all of the child care providers who have helped spread the word about EDC’s family survey (part of the Family Child Care and Beyond research study)! We have received over 190 responses so far and are hoping to keep the momentum going. If you have not already shared the survey information with the families you serve, please consider using the text found in this link in an email or newsletter message and/or print and post the information on a bulletin board or send home with the children. Every response helps increase our understanding of what families prioritize when choosing among child care options. Survey findings can also help inform DHS policies designed to improve families’ access to care that meets their needs.

Join the Certificate of Graduate Study in Early Childhood and Early Childhood Special Education at Rhode Island College. RIC is currently accepting applications for the Fall 2026 semester.

New! Parenting Groups from Bradley Hospital
Bradley Hospital Brown Health has 3 new virtual parenting groups starting in March. There are groups for caregivers of toddlers, preschoolers and school age (ages 6 to 9 years) children. These groups are a great way for parents to connect and get support, and to learn ways to address challenging behaviors at home.
And, be on the lookout…new groups for parents of newborns starting soon!!

Child Care Facilities Planning Grant Available from LISC
The 2026 Child Care Facilities Planning Grant Program is available for predevelopment and feasibility activities to develop, expand, or improve early childhood facilities in Rhode Island. Grant-funded planning work could include hiring professionals for the following:
- Architectural design services for project feasibility and concept design;
- Site analysis;
- Engineering studies;
- Legal services (ex: hiring a land use attorney to pursue a change in zoning for allowable use); and
- Environmental survey and review.
Applications are due on February 28.

RIAIMH Opportunity
Learning Collaborative in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health for Early Childhood Education Professionals
Early care and education providers have unique opportunities to promote infant/early childhood mental health by building and nurturing relationships that support social and emotional development, healthy attachments, and family engagement. This work impacts early brain development and is critical for the child’s lifelong health, mental health, and learning. We know that the work in ECE settings is as rewarding as it is weighty. IECMH principles and practices are crucial to guide ALL work that involves infants’ optimal development and social/emotional well-being. This project supports providers to promote IECMH through training, reflection, creation of a community within ECE, and support to earn IECMH-Endorsement® credential.
What’s involved in this Learning Collaborative?
- Attend 2 Trainings (CELP approved) for 42 total hours from February-September 2026
- Support to submit your IMH Endorsement® application (requires approximately 10 hours) that affirms specialized knowledge, skills, and experiences working with infants, young children and their families.
- Participants offered: RIAIMH 2026 membership and a professional payment upon earning the Endorsement credential
Registration for training at NO COST to participants
Registration is limited to 40 participants
Additional information about activities (including dates) will be provided after registration.
Who’s Eligible?
- Staff working directly with infants and/or toddlers and their families
- Identified as a leader in your program
- Staff employed in programs that accept CCAP subsidies
- Participants will need approval from their supervisors/administrators to support time required for participation in the project

Pequeños matemáticos: Usando los Juegos matemáticos para desarrollar mentes y motivación
Pequeños matemáticos es una serie de DP que mejorará la capacidad de los proveedores con niños de edad preescolar para facilitar y desarrollar el conocimiento matemático y el pensamiento de los niños utilizando juegos matemáticos y la participación familiar. Al igual que la serie original, cada sesión se centrará en el uso de juegos de matemáticas divertidos y atractivos que destacan varios conceptos matemáticos clave.

Utilizando el FCCERS-3 para mejorar la calidad del programa
Esta serie de dos partes ofrecerá a los propietarios y educadores de cuidado infantil familiar una visión general de los componentes de la Escala de Calificación del Entorno de Cuidado Infantil Familiar (FCCERS-3). Los participantes profundizarán su comprensión de los conceptos, términos y definiciones clave de la herramienta, analizarán estrategias para prepararse para una evaluación FCCERS de BrightStars en su programa y aprenderán a usar la herramienta para la autoevaluación del programa y la mejora continua de la calidad.

En este curso, los participantes explorarán estrategias para fortalecer la conexión casa-escuela mediante la promoción del aprendizaje divertido. Los participantes considerarán formas de fomentar el aprendizaje de los niños a través del juego con sus familias.
Rhode Island Abuso y Negligencia Infantil: Parte 2
presenta una inmersión más profunda en los signos de diferentes tipos de maltrato y abandono infantil, datos nacionales y estatales relacionados con el abuso y el descuido, y el papel del profesional de la primera infancia. Esta capacitación está diseñada para seguir el curso general titulado, RI Abuso y negligencia infantil: Mantener seguros a los niños de Rhode Island en todo momento.

Actualizaciones de febrero de la Oficina de Cuidado Infanti
Estimados Proveedores,
La Oficina de Cuidado Infantil (Office of Child Care) tiene algunas actualizaciones importantes para compartir con ustedes. Por favor, lean cuidadosamente y comuniquen cualquier pregunta, comentario o inquietud a un miembro del equipo.
- Ya no contamos con un buzón de cuidado infantil en 25 Howard Ave. No aceptamos solicitudes en papel. La facturación retroactiva (back billing) y otros documentos pueden escanearse y enviarse por correo electrónico. Nuestro método preferido para recibir información es por documento escaneado y correo electrónico; sin embargo, también pueden enviarlo por correo postal si lo prefieren.
- A partir del 20 de febrero de 2026, el DHS tendrá una sección específica en nuestro sitio web donde se publicarán todos los correos electrónicos enviados a los proveedores. De esta manera, siempre podrán acceder a ellos y mantenerse informados cuando les sea conveniente. Los correos estarán disponibles en el siguiente enlace: https://dhs.ri.gov/programs-and-services/child-care/child-care-providers-staff-resources/handbooks-forms. Tenga en cuenta que todavía no están publicados, pero esperamos que esta sección esté disponible antes de que termine la semana. - La OCC desea recordarles que los perfiles son personales y solo deben ser accedidos por la persona propietaria de la cuenta. Asegúrense de que su personal nunca comparta contraseñas ni permita que otra persona inicie sesión en su cuenta. Compartir credenciales no es necesario y puede poner en riesgo su información personal, datos laborales y la integridad del sistema. RISES está diseñado para que los roles regulatorios autorizados y otro personal puedan acceder a la información necesaria sin iniciar sesión en la cuenta de otra persona. Esto garantiza que la información de todos los usuarios permanezca segura mientras se mantiene la supervisión requerida. Si algún miembro del personal sospecha que su cuenta ha sido accedida sin su consentimiento, debe cambiar su contraseña de inmediato y comunicarse con nuestro equipo de soporte en support@dhs.ri.gov Podemos revisar la actividad de la cuenta y brindar asistencia según sea necesario. Gracias por ayudarnos a mantener la seguridad, integridad y confidencialidad del Registro de la Fuerza Laboral.
- Como probablemente notarán, como parte de la reciente actualización de RISES se creó una nueva herramienta de visitas para asegurar que todas las regulaciones sean monitoreadas durante una visita. Es importante señalar que actualmente las regulaciones no han cambiado y que todo lo que el equipo de licencias supervisa ha sido requisito para la licencia durante años. Es fundamental que, en todo momento durante el horario de operación, cumplan con todas las regulaciones. Como recordatorio, las regulaciones pueden consultarse aquí: https://dhs.ri.gov/regulations.
- Por último, asegúrense de que su personal esté al día con los requisitos de inmunización. Toda la información necesaria sobre inmunizaciones está disponible en: https://datahealth.ri.gov/immunization/for/schools/. Este sitio web incluye información específica sobre lo que se requiere tanto para el personal de cuidado infantil como para los niños, así como las posibles exenciones. Si la información de inmunización cargada en el registro no incluye claramente el nombre completo del miembro del personal y su fecha de nacimiento, será rechazada y deberá enviarse nuevamente.

Pago basado en la inscripción
¡Hola comunidad de proveedores de CCAP!
La Oficina de Cuidado Infantil se está preparando para el cambio a los pagos CCAP basados en la inscripción a finales de marzo de 2026. Este cambio nos permite cumplir con la norma CCDF de 2024 que exige pagos basados en la inscripción, pero lo más importante, es que proporciona una mayor estabilidad y consistencia en los pagos a los proveedores y una mayor flexibilidad a las familias con horarios variables. El pago basado en la inscripción se ajusta mejor a las prácticas de pago del mercado privado y refleja mejor los costos fijos asociados a la prestación de servicios de cuidado infantil de calidad. ¡Estamos entusiasmados con este cambio y estamos planificando con antelación para que sea lo más fluido posible!
Habrá algunos cambios en las pantallas y estados del portal de proveedores de CCAP para el envío de asistencia, y compartiremos todos los detalles con suficiente antelación.

Cuestionario para padres/cuidadores del DHS y EDC
Gracias a todos los proveedores de cuidado infantil que han ayudado a difundir la encuesta familiar de EDC (parte del estudio de investigación sobre cuidado infantil familiar y más allá). Hasta el momento hemos recibido más de 190 respuestas y esperamos mantener este ritmo. Si aún no ha compartido la información de la encuesta con las familias a las que atiende, le pedimos que considere utilizar el texto en este enlace en un correo electrónico o boletín informativo, o bien imprima y publique la información en un tablón de anuncios o envíela a casa con los niños. Cada respuesta nos ayuda a comprender mejor qué priorizan las familias al elegir entre las diferentes opciones de cuidado infantil. Los resultados de la encuesta también pueden ser útiles para las políticas del Departamento de Servicios Humanos (DHS) diseñadas para mejorar el acceso de las familias a un cuidado que satisfaga sus necesidades.

El programa de subvenciones para la planificación de instalaciones de cuidado infantil de LISC está abierto
El Programa de Subvenciones para la Planificación de Instalaciones de Cuidado Infantil 2026 está disponible para actividades de predesarrollo y viabilidad para desarrollar, ampliar o mejorar instalaciones para la primera infancia en Rhode Island. Las tareas de planificación financiadas con subvenciones podrían incluir la contratación de profesionales para lo siguiente:
- Servicios de diseño arquitectónico para viabilidad de proyectos y diseño conceptual;
- Análisis del sitio;
- Estudios de ingeniería;
- Servicios legales (por ejemplo: contratar a un abogado especializado en uso de tierras para lograr un cambio en la zonificación para un uso permitido); y
- Estudio y revisión ambiental.
Las solicitudes deben presentarse hasta el 28 de febrero.

Serie de conversación comunitaria 2026
RIAIMH ahora ofrece la Serie de Conversaciones Comunitarias en español. Esta serie transformadora de 6 sesiones, “Raíces Fuertes, Futuros Brillantes: Conversaciones comunitarias sobre la salud mental infantil” (Strong Roots, Bright Futures: Community Conversations on Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health), está diseñada específicamente para educadores hispanohablantes, proveedores de cuidado infantil, profesionales de la primera infancia y aquellos que trabajan como parte de la fuerza laboral de infantes y familias.
Descripción de la Serie: Serie de conversaciones virtuales que exploran principios y prácticas esenciales que nutren el bienestar emocional de los niños desde el nacimiento hasta los 5 años. Los temas incluyen:
