Get Ready for the New School Year with Our Self-Paced PD!

 

From Chaos to Calm: Fostering Independence through Daily Routines Self-Paced
This course provides an overview of strategies to support children’s autonomy through well-established classroom routines.

Read-Aloud BasicsSelf-Paced
This course presents an overview of best book reading practices. Course lessons address the importance of early read-aloud experiences, book genre, interactive read-aloud strategies, and supporting vocabulary development.

Supporting Social-Emotional Learning through Classroom Routines – Self-Paced
This course presents an overview of ways to support young children’s social and emotional learning throughout the day. It focuses on practical strategies for supporting preschool-aged children in developing their social-emotional skills and ways that adults can use routines to meet the needs of young children.

Register for PD

PD Reminder – Get Your Workforce ID

Certain features of DHS’s new Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) Workforce Registry are still under development.

At this time, only CELP PD will transfer to your RISES account.

External PD that is not offered through CELP will not yet transfer to RISES. However, you are still able to have external PD approved through the Training Verification or Professional Development Approval process on the CELP website: Get Your PD Approved – Center for Early Learning Professionals (center-elp.org). Once this new feature is available, you will be able to submit external PD through your CELP account for approval.

A feature to transfer your ProSolutions PD to your RISES account is also under development.

In order for any PD to transfer to your RISES account, you will need to first create a RISES account: Register | Rhode Island Start Early System (RISES) (site.com). When you create an account, you will automatically receive a Workforce ID. Enter this Workforce ID into your CELP account and ProSolutions account to ensure that your PD transfers seamlessly to RISES once those features are available.

Remember to “Tune-In” to this newsletter so you are the first to find out when these new features are ready!


 

News from DHS:

CCAP Additional Fees Reminder

We would like to take some time to thank you for your ongoing adherence to CCAP policies and for ensuring you stay up to date on the changes that have been made with the recent regulation update that will take effect July 29th. Stay tuned for more information on the new additions to the regulations in future weeks. We are reaching out today to provide additional clarification on charging fees to CCAP-eligible families, which was always a regulation that needed clarification.

It is important to remember that a family’s CCAP copay is the maximum amount a family can afford to contribute toward child care. In addition to charging families this assigned copay, though, there are four (4) other specific allowable fees that are permissible to charge CCAP families.

Additional language around this policy can be found in your CCAP Provider Agreement and the CCAP Provider Handbook and CCAP regulations, which are all linked to the DHS Website here: DHS CCAP Provider Information

News from RIDE:
2024 Curriculum Review and Endorsement Results

In February 2024, RIDE issued a Request for Curriculum to publishers of evidence-based, comprehensive, and/or content/domain-specific curriculum for children ages three to five to align with the state’s 2023 RI Early Learning and Development Standards and other metrics of a high-quality early learning curriculum. Through submissions received, RIDE engaged in a multitiered curriculum review process alongside teams of educators and are excited to published a final list of curriculum that is “RIDE Endorsed.” Curriculum must have been determined to meet most indicators as outlined in the Tier I and Tier II review rubrics to meet the minimum requirements for endorsement.

You may access the updated list of endorsed curriculum and accompanying resources on the RIDE Early Learning Curriculum webpage.

Please make note of the following:

  • The Center for Early Learning Professionals has physical sets of newly endorsed curricula. If interested in exploring these materials before a future purchase, please contact Julie Boutwell (JBoutwell@edc.org).
  • Consensus Team Scoring Rubrics may be found (via the link above) for each newly endorsed curriculum. These rubrics are crucial in identifying a curriculum’s strengths and weaknesses and can use this information to make well-informed decisions about adoption, implementation, and professional learning.
  • For the first time, RIDE is endorsing (2) content-specific curricula. As noted in the rubrics, content-specific curriculum is not to be used in isolation, but may be used alongside other RIDE-endorsed, comprehensive curricula to enhance or supplement learning in these content areas. Schools/programs interested in using a combination of comprehensive and content-specific curricula will need to develop a plan to ensure children are comprehensively supported in standards-aligned curriculum, instruction, and assessment across the breadth of the school year.

Recordatorio de DP – Obtenga su ID de fuerza laboral

Ciertas características del nuevo Registro de la Fuerza Laboral del Sistema de Inicio Temprano de Rhode Island (RISES) del DHS aún están en desarrollo.

En este momento, solo desarrollo profesional (DP) de CELP se transferirá a su cuenta RISES.

El desarrollo profesional externo que no se ofrece a través de CELP aún no se transferirá a RISES. Sin embargo, aún puede obtener la aprobación de DP externo a través del proceso de Verificación de capacitación o Aprobación de desarrollo profesional en el sitio web de CELP: Get Your PD Approved – Center for Early Learning Professionals (center-elp.org). Una vez que esta nueva función esté disponible, podrá enviar DP externo a través de su cuenta CELP para su aprobación.

También se está desarrollando una función para transferir su DP de ProSolutions a su cuenta en RISES.

Recordatorio de Tarifas Adicionales de CCAP

Nos gustaría tomarnos un tiempo para agradecerle por su continuo cumplimiento de las políticas del CCAP y por garantizar que se mantenga actualizado sobre los cambios que se han realizado con la reciente actualización de la regulación que entrará en vigor el 29 de julio. Estén atentos para obtener más información sobre las nuevas incorporaciones a las regulaciones en las próximas semanas. Nos comunicamos hoy para brindar aclaraciones adicionales sobre el cobro de tarifas a las familias elegibles para el CCAP, que siempre fue una regulación que necesitaba aclaración.

Es importante recordar que el copago CCAP de una familia es la cantidad máxima que una familia puede contribuir para el cuidado infantil. Sin embargo, además de cobrar a las familias este copago asignado, existen otras cuatro (4) tarifas específicas permitidas que están permitidas para cobrar a las familias del CCAP.
