This series will support teachers as they plan for the first six weeks of the RI Pre-K school year. Sessions
will focus on deepening participants’ understanding of the unique social and emotional needs of
children at the beginning of the school year, as well as the teacher’s critical role in supporting
children’s success. Participants who complete this series will identify children’s social-emotional needs
during the first six weeks of school; discuss their classroom goals and understand the impact of the
teacher’s mindset on supporting positive behavior outcomes at the beginning of the school year;
understand the adult’s role in creating a classroom environment that fosters connections; and plan
concrete strategies for teaching routines and expectations. Participants can earn up to 10 PD hours by
participating in four facilitated online sessions, completing intersession reflection questions, and
submitting one assignment.
