  • Description

In this 2-part online series presented by Cristen Sassi, M.Ed., OTR/L, participants will learn about the eight senses and how sensory information affects our bodies and environment. Session content will build a foundational understanding of the purpose and function of the eight senses, children’s sensory needs and differences, and how to build a balanced sensory diet for individual children. Participants will gain practical ideas that can be integrated into the classroom daily routine for all learners.

Participants will be able to:

  • Identify the eight senses and explain how each one integrates and interprets information from our bodies and the environment
  • Explain how a sensory-based approach to learning supports all learners’ regulation and nervous system needs
  • Determine children’s sensory needs and differences and how these may surface in the classroom
  • Select and implement sensory tools and activities for the classroom

Participants can earn up to 5 PD hours by attending two facilitated online sessions and completing one online assignment.
