Family Engagement: Culturally Responsive Approach - Online Series

Strong relationships are at the heart of meaningful family engagement. In this interactive training, early childhood educators will explore how effective, respectful, and reciprocal communication can strengthen partnerships with families and support positive outcomes for children. Through reflection, discussion, and real-world scenarios, educators will practice strengths-based and culturally responsive communication strategies, including approaches for navigating challenging conversations while maintaining positive relationships.

Participants who complete the series will:

• • recognize the importance of family engagement in supporting children’s learning, development, and well-being by identifying strategies for building trusting, reciprocal relationships with families
  • develop strategies that create welcoming and inclusive environments for all families while examining how personal perspectives, biases, and experiences influence interactions with families.
  • describe the difference between family involvement and family engagement by applying effective partnership strategies that support shared decision-making with families
  • create opportunities for families to actively contribute to children’s learning experiences​

Participants can earn up to 9 PD hours by attending the three facilitated online sessions and completing three online assignments.
