This series is designed to improve preschool teachers’ capacity to facilitate and build children’s mathematical knowledge and thinking. Each session will focus on the use of fun and engaging math games that highlight key math concepts of number sense and quantity such as counting, identifying numerals, and understanding quantity. Participants will learn how to implement a series of math games, use formative assessment strategies to track children’s growth, and apply instructional approaches that build children growth mindset and persistence.
Participants who complete the series will increase their ability to:
- intentionally plan games and use instructional strategies that facilitate the exploration of critical math skills
- understand and articulate key math concepts related to number sense and quantity
- use math games to support children’s development of persistence and executive function skills
Participants can earn up to 12 PD hours by attending three face-to-face sessions and completing three online assignments.
