This two-hour professional development session helps early childhood educators and Therapeutic Integration Specialists understand emotional regulation and the important role of adult co-regulation. Participants will learn to recognize signs of dysregulation, identify possible triggers, and respond using developmentally appropriate strategies. The training covers supportive adult tone and body language, calming spaces, breathing exercises, movement breaks, sensory supports, coping skills, and replacement behaviors. Through discussion, case studies, and the creation of a regulation toolbox, participants will practice selecting strategies for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children before, during, and after periods of dysregulation.
