  • Description

This two-hour professional development session prepares Therapeutic Integration Specialists and early childhood and school-age educators to prevent and respond to challenging behavior using positive, developmentally appropriate strategies. Participants will explore positive reinforcement, modeling, redirection, visual supports, First/Then language, choices, predictable routines, and ways to make tasks and transitions manageable. The session also addresses how to respond calmly and safely when a child becomes dysregulated, with attention to communication and sensory needs. Through an Intervention Toolbox activity and classroom role-play scenarios, participants will select practical strategies they can use to support children’s regulation, participation, and skill development.
