This three-part series explores how communication develops from birth to age three. Educators will learn practical, culturally responsive strategies to support early language and literacy through conversations, books, storytelling, and literacy-rich classroom environments. Participants will also create an action plan to apply these strategies in their classrooms.
Participants who complete the series will be able to:
- describe at least four major language and emergent literacy developments that typically occur from birth through 36 months, while recognizing individual, cultural, linguistic, and developmental variation
- use at least five intentional interaction strategies to extend communication
- plan at least three developmentally appropriate experiences using books, songs, stories, environmental print, mark-making, and play
Participants can earn up to 10.5 PD hours by attending three facilitated online sessions and completing three assignments.
