Take Our Self-Paced PD
Micro-Training: Tips for Handwashing Practices
This course reviews the required practices and procedures for handwashing in both center-based programs and family child care homes. This training will provide an overview of the Rhode Island Child Care and Family Child Care licensing regulations for handwashing policies and procedures and resources for implementing proper health and hygiene practices with all children.

New! News from DHS: RISES Updates – March 2026
Valued Providers,
Thank you for all of the work you are putting into getting your information into the system. I promise it will be a lot easier after the first go-round. We have some updates we want to share that we hope will answer some questions that have been coming to us.
- As part of the coursework enhancement, we also created a non-CELP PD enhancement. This enhancement will be going away, as through this process we have realized that there is no PD that can’t go through the CELP for approval and be posted automatically into your RISES account. This is causing nothing more than a duplication of approval and was an error on our end. The non-CELP feature will be shut down in the coming days and anything that has been submitted under non-CELP PD will be denied, as it can all move through the CELP process. Currently, the CELP process has a weekly feed into the RISES system and will be daily in the coming weeks.
- To GET your training approved, go HERE [center-elp.org]. There are directions on how to get training approved if submitting as a trainer or as a participant. If you have questions, please reach out to the CELP, they are happy to help!
- To GET your training certificate uploaded to your account, please follow the instructions below. If there are any questions, do NOT hesitate to reach out to the CELP Infoline for support in English or Spanish at 401-736-9020 or info@center-elp.org.
- In the coming weeks, we will provide a guidance document for putting in coursework. In the meantime, we are already seeing some common issues that are delaying the approval process:
-
- Under Institution Name, there are three drop downs for the three state schools (CCRI, RIC and URI) and then a category for “Other” which is other schools only.
- If you click on “other” and then write in CCRI, RIC or URI, it will be denied.
- If you put in something that is not the name of a college, it will also be denied. Please pay attention to the prompts and fill them out accurately and to the best of your ability.
- Please have some patience with approvals in the system. Approvals that are in our queue will not be held against you. We ask that you wait one full week before inquiring about the status of an approval – after a week, please reach out to the RISES support desk for assistance either by creating a ticket through RISES or by sending an email to rises.support@dhs.ri.gov
- Lastly, please do not send multiple emails about a RISES issue. Please reach out first to RISES support. There is a very quick turnaround with help desk items. If you have not received a response within 2 business days, then please escalate to your licensor or someone on the Office of Child Care Team.

Mark your calendars: ESF-RI’s annual conference, the We Empower Providers Assembly (WEPA), will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2026. It will take place at the Providence Marriott Downtown, 1 Orms Street, from 10:30am – 2:30pm (registration at 9:30am).
Their theme this year is Connection Through Storytelling. We’re creating an event that honors and amplifies the voices of our family child care educators – celebrating their journeys, experiences, and impact – while strengthening our community and deepening the relationships that bring us together.

¡Nuevo! Noticias de DHS: Actualizaciones de RISES – Marzo 2026
Estimados proveedores,
Gracias por todo el trabajo que están realizando para ingresar su información en el sistema. Les prometo que será mucho más fácil después de la primera vez. Queremos compartir algunas actualizaciones que esperamos respondan a preguntas que hemos recibido.
- Como parte de la mejora del plan de estudios, también creamos una función de PD no-CELP. Esta función será eliminada, ya que hemos comprobado que no existe ningún PD que no pueda pasar por el proceso CELP para su aprobación y ser publicado automáticamente en su cuenta de RISES. Esto solo estaba causando duplicación de aprobaciones y fue un error de nuestra parte. La función no-CELP se desactivará en los próximos días, y cualquier PD enviado a través de esta función será rechazado, ya que todo puede procesarse mediante CELP. Actualmente, el proceso CELP se actualiza semanalmente en RISES, pero en las próximas semanas será diario.
- Para obtener la aprobación de su capacitación, vaya a: [center-elp.org]. Allí encontrará instrucciones para enviar su capacitación, ya sea como capacitador o participante. Si tiene preguntas, comuníquese con CELP; estarán encantados de ayudarle.
- Para subir su certificado de capacitación a su cuenta, siga las instrucciones a continuación. Si tiene alguna pregunta, no dude en comunicarse con la línea de información de CELP para soporte en inglés o español al 401-736-9020 o info@center-elp.org.
- En las próximas semanas, proporcionaremos un documento de guía para ingresar cursos. Mientras tanto, ya hemos detectado algunos problemas comunes que están retrasando el proceso de aprobación:
- Bajo Nombre de la institución, hay tres menús desplegables para las tres escuelas estatales (CCRI, RIC y URI) y una categoría llamada “Otros” para todas las demás instituciones.
- Si selecciona “Otros” y escribe CCRI, RIC o URI, su envío será rechazado.
- Si ingresa un nombre que no corresponde a una institución educativa, también será rechazado. Por favor, preste atención a los indicativos y llénelos con precisión y lo mejor posible.
- Les pedimos paciencia con el proceso de aprobación. Las solicitudes que estén en nuestra cola no se contarán en su contra. Esperamos que espere al menos una semana completa antes de consultar sobre el estado de una aprobación. Después de una semana, puede comunicarse con el Soporte de RISES para recibir asistencia, bien sea creando un ticket a través de RISES o enviando un email a rises.support@dhs.ri.gov
- Por último, por favor, no envíe múltiples correos electrónicos sobre un mismo problema de RISES. Primero, comuníquese con el soporte de RISES y abra un ticket. El tiempo de respuesta del help desk es muy rápido. Si no recibe respuesta dentro de 2 días hábiles, puede escalar el problema a su licenciante o a un miembro del Equipo de la Oficina de Cuidado Infantil.

Oportunidad de RIAIMH: Serie de conversación comunitaria 2026
RIAIMH ahora ofrece la Serie de Conversaciones Comunitarias en español. Esta serie transformadora de 6 sesiones, “Raíces Fuertes, Futuros Brillantes: Conversaciones comunitarias sobre la salud mental infantil” (Strong Roots, Bright Futures: Community Conversations on Infant/Early Childhood Mental Health), está diseñada específicamente para educadores hispanohablantes, proveedores de cuidado infantil, profesionales de la primera infancia y aquellos que trabajan como parte de la fuerza laboral de infantes y familias.
Descripción de la Serie: Serie de conversaciones virtuales que exploran principios y prácticas esenciales que nutren el bienestar emocional de los niños desde el nacimiento hasta los 5 años. Los temas incluyen:
- Sesión #3 (15 de abril): Sanando Juntos: El trauma, la pérdida y la pervivencia – Facilitada por Ivys Fernández-Pastrana, JD y Carmen Rosa Noroña, LICSW, MSW, MS. Ed., IECMH-E®
