This three-part series provides participants with guidance for navigating challenging conversations in the early childhood setting. It is designed to support all members of the early childhood community including families, administrators, teachers, and teaching assistants. Upon course completion, participants will learn best practices and strategies for successfully navigating challenging conversations with families and colleagues. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in self-reflection, perspective-taking, and hands-on practice!

Participants will be able to:

  • engage in self-reflective practices to navigate challenging conversations
  • develop communication tools for engaging in challenging conversations with families and colleagues
  • apply the NAEYC guidance outlined in the code of ethical conduct when planning for and engaging in challenging conversations
  • identify the dispositions required for successfully navigating challenging conversations

Participants can earn up to 12 PD hours by completing 3 online instructor-led sessions and 3 intersession assignments.
