Growing Language Together: Supporting Multilingual Learners Birth-5 - Online Series
- Description
This 4-part professional learning series supports early childhood educators in understanding and nurturing the language development of multilingual learners (MLLs) from birth to age five. Grounded in developmentally appropriate practice, the session explores how young children grow language through relationships, play, and meaningful interactions across home and early learning environments.
Participants will examine the importance of home language as a foundation for identity, communication, and learning. The session highlights strategies for creating inclusive, language-rich environments that reflect children’s languages and cultures while supporting English language development.
Educators will engage in reflection and practical application, identifying ways to partner with families and embed language-supportive practices into everyday routines. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to help multilingual learners build strong language skills and a positive sense of belonging.
Participants can earn up to 12 PD hours by attending four facilitated online sessions and completing three assignments.
