A Developmental Approach to Classroom Management – Online Series

Family Child Care Administrators and Educators / Preschool and Pre-K Educators
English

This 3-session series, facilitated by Cheryl Cotter and Cristen Sassi, will provide participants with a foundational understanding of how to identify individual differences within their students. When the focus is on the underlying challenges children face, we can develop a deeper understanding of their learning needs. As a result, we can provide targeted and tailored support to teach new skills, reduce challenging behaviors, and support social-emotional skill acquisition. Participants will leave this series with a set of structured tools to help them map out hidden challenges, link challenges to behaviors, and support students accordingly.

Participants will be able to:

  • Assess and understand children’s learning needs through a developmental lens
  • Interpret and better understand the challenges presented in children’s behavior
  • Create a developmentally appropriate approach to classroom management
  • Develop strategies and structured tools to support children’s social and emotional skill development

Participants can earn up to 10 PD hours by attending three online sessions and completing three intersession assignments.
