Valued Providers,
As many of you are aware, the Office of Child Care is in the process of updating the Child Care Center regulations. Those of you familiar with the process know that before any changes can be promulgated (i.e., put into statute) the regulations must first be made available for public comment. During the public comment period, you have an opportunity to express any feedback or input you might have about the changes being proposed. However, the Office of Child Care cannot answer any questions or provide any type of response during public comment. The Office of Child Care believes it is important for providers to be able to ask questions and receive clarification regarding proposed changes that will directly impact your program. Because of this, we will be offering two opportunities for you to dialogue with the Office of Child Care prior to the public comment period.
The Office of Child Care will hold two Question & Answer sessions. During these sessions, the Office of Child Care will share a PowerPoint presentation outlining the changes. You will then have the chance to ask questions related to the changes that are being proposed. These sessions will both be held on Thursday, July 14th virtually through Zoom. The first session will be from 10-11am. The second will be from 6-7pm. Use the link below to access either of these meetings. Additionally, stay tuned for an email in the coming weeks from Tara Borges (tara.borges@dhs.ri.gov) regarding the public comment period.
