Follow Up RE: Adopting NAEYC’s Professional Standards & Competencies

Dear Rhode Island Early Childhood Partners,

As clarification and to address any unease with this transition, the alert regarding adopting the NAEYC standards is for awareness purposes. There is no action needed from you and/or your team at this time. Your partners at BrightStars and the Center for Early Learning Professionals (CELP) are working closely together to align the WKCs with the NAEYC Standards. This work, supported by NAEYC/RIAEYC, DHS and RIDE, is moving as quickly as possible. A visual is being developed and will be made available as soon as possible for all. In addition to this visual tool and updates to systems, further supports and trainings are being determined and secured to support each ECE workforce member with this transition. You will not be alone in navigating this change.

For reference regarding the adoption of the NAEYC Professional Standards, you can find more information here.

Please continue working on your professional development and technical assistance needs and goals as you have been doing. We appreciate each of you and look forward to continuing this work together!

Updates will continue to be shared with the community as they become available to ensure transparency and timeliness of communication on the path to adopting NAEYC’s Professional Standards & Competencies. Please stay tuned!
