Discussion Group about Neuro-Affirming Language
- Description
This one session discussion group will support professionals in using neuro-affirming language that honors each child’s unique way of thinking and learning. In this session, educators will reflect on how everyday words can either support or limit a child’s sense of belonging and explore simple shifts from a deficit-based to strength-based language. The goal for this time together is to build awareness of our own mental models and how they shape the ways we view and talk about children. By reflecting on our own language and assumptions, we can shift toward more responsive, respectful, and supportive interactions with every child. This session will be led by Cheryl Cotter from Educational Consulting.
Participants can earn up to 2 PD hours by attending one facilitated online session.
