A Foundation for Success Series 1: Nurturing Children's Relationships - Online Series
- Description
The development of social and emotional skills during the preschool years is essential for establishing a strong foundation for academic learning and lifelong success. When children have strong social and emotional skills, they can form healthy relationships with adults and with their peers; they are better able to identify, express, and regulate difficult emotions; and they are able to develop an awareness of themselves as confident and competent individuals.
In this suite of three (3) professional development series, A Foundation for Success, early childhood professionals will have the opportunity to dive deeper into the following topics:
- building strong relationships with and among children where they feel a sense of belonging
- supporting children in developing the skills they need to self-regulate and effectively express their emotions
- promoting children’s self of sense, individuality, competence, and confidence
The first series in this new suite is called A Foundation for Success: Nurturing Children’s Relationships. This course will provide educators with a strong understanding of how to build positive relationships with children and families, beginning with the skills to build in themselves.
Upon completing this series, participants will:
- define the components of positive relationships within early learning settings
- recognize ways to focus educator practices on relationships with children and their families
- identify universal strategies for building relationships with and between children
- discover targeted ways to support children who need additional support with relationship building skills
Participants can earn up to 10 PD hours by completing 3 facilitated online sessions and 3 intersession assignments.
