The Nuts and Bolts of School-Age Summer Programming – Online Series

This 2-part training will explore the basics of setting up and running a summer curriculum for School-Age programs.  Whether you are new to summer programming, or a seasoned staff in need of a few reminders, and new ideas. The first session will look at the importance of summer programming, essential policies, and procedures that programs should follow and why. In addition, the content will address how to navigate the licensing regulations and safety. Session two will highlight group management strategies, how to implement youth choice, program structure, and curriculum ideas that will keep the “summer fun” while supporting learning. There will be lots of opportunities to share ideas and ask questions!

Participants who complete the series will:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of essential policies and procedures for running a summer school-age program
  • Identify the key licensing regulations for implementing a safe and healthy summer program
  • Learn management strategies and curriculum practices to best meet the needs of school-age learners in their program

Participants can earn up to 5 PD hours by attending the two in-person sessions and completing one online assignment.
