This series is designed to help beginning teachers, teacher assistants, and family child care educators understand how learning through creative arts can be enhanced by interactions with others. Each session will target specific areas within the creative arts domain and examine how educators can effectively extend children’s learning. Strong emphasis will be placed on recognizing creativity as an essential skill for the 21st century and how engagement in creative arts can enhance learning in all domains.
Participants who complete this series will:
- build understanding of Rhode Island’s Workforce Knowledge and Competency Framework
- recognize the value of creative arts experiences for young children as outlined in the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards
- extend children’s learning through interactions with materials, adults, and peers during creative arts experiences
- understand the role that Powerful Interactions can have on extending children’s learning as they engage in creative arts
Participants can earn up to 12 PD hours by attending three facilitated online sessions and completing three online assignments
