This series will support preschool teachers as they plan for the first six weeks of the school year. Participants will learn a variety of strategies for supporting students’ social-emotional development as they acclimate to their new learning environment. Sessions will focus on organizing the physical space and materials, building a classroom community, and establishing strong routines and expectations at the beginning of the year.
Participants who complete this series will:
- Understand children’s social and emotional needs during the first six weeks of school
- Discuss how intentional use of universal supports help children develop strong social-emotional skills
- Understand the positive impact of building strong relationships during the first six weeks
- Learn strategies for creating a classroom environment where children feel safe and connected
- Learn strategies for effectively teaching children classroom routines and expectations
- Understand the impact that strong classroom practices during the first six weeks of school has on the rest of the school year
Participants can earn up to 10.5 PD hours by participating in three in-person sessions and completing three assignments.
