An Introduction to Infant and Toddler Assessment: Observation and Documentation – Online Series

This series will provide teachers with an introduction to the nuts and bolts of child assessment for infants and toddlers—the different types and purposes of assessment, the significant role of assessment in supporting young children’s development, and best practices for conducting assessments in the infant and toddler classroom. Participants will gain an understanding of current practice and build foundational child assessment skills that they can immediately apply in their work.
Participants who complete the series will:

  • understand the varied purposes and types of infant and toddler assessment
  • demonstrate knowledge of observation strategies and documentation methods
  • build capacity to use child assessments in a systematic and ongoing way
  • use child assessment data to begin to deepen their understanding of children’s development and learning

Participants can earn up to 10.5 PD hours by attending three facilitated online sessions and completing three assignments.
