Using the Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale-3 (ITERS-3) to Improve Program Quality

up to 15 PD hours English Program Directors, Education Coordinators, and Education Supervisors

This series provides an overview of the Infant-Toddler Environment Rating Scale-3 – a tool that directors, education coordinators, and supervisors can use to assess quality in infant/toddler center-based settings. In addition, a BrightStars Assessment Specialist will provide an overview of the assessment site visit process. Attending this series will meet the BrightStars Standard 1: Learning Environment training requirement.

Participants who complete the series will:

  • increase their understanding of how the indicators in the tool reflect current research on program quality
  • gain increased knowledge of key terms and definitions within the tool
  • learn and practice strategies for using the tool for program self-assessment
  • gain knowledge of the concept of continuous quality improvement

Participants can earn up to 15 PD hours by attending the three face-to-face sessions and completing three online assignments. As part of the assignments, participants will have the opportunity to practice using the tool in their own programs.

Please Note: This series has been approved by RIDE to serve as a RIELDS Next Steps class. Additionally, hours in this series can be applied toward meeting the RIDE CECE Approval Standard 4.1 requirement that education coordinators have documented hours of professional development in mentoring, supervision, and leadership.
